Chiropractic practices have been around for decades now. It’s not surprising that several experts have come up with their unique versions and techniques to help patients. There are over 100 registered techniques in this field, and all of them require careful study. At Mount Royal Village Family Chiropractic, we use a modified Gonstead Protocol.
What is The Gonstead Technique?
The Gonstead Technique was developed by Dr. Clarence Gonstead, who recovered from arthritis after receiving a chiropractic adjustment. This was his watershed moment that lead him to dedicate his life to the practice and development of the Gonstead Method.
Working a Norwegian work week, Dr. Gonstead would be in the clinic by 8:00 am, six days a week, seeing patients until dinner time and then working past midnight with his colleagues developing his technique. Dr. Gonstead was an utterly amazing individual who worked tirelessly with this schedule for over 40 years.
The technique relies on accurate diagnostics using specially designed tools like the Nervoscope, X-ray, and clinical analysis including the biomechanics of the spine and pelvis and the neurological presentation of the patient.
Once this analysis is complete, the chiropractor will have a good understanding and view of the problem, and can therefore address it properly and thoroughly.
