Mount Royal Village Family Chiropractic | Activator Technique with Parent

Experts in the chiropractic community have developed instruments and techniques to assist in patient care. These instruments and procedures allow the delivery of the best treatment for a particular patient to help ensure the best results for that individual.

At Mount Royal Village Family Chiropractic, we are specifically trained in the use of the Calgary Activator Method for spinal adjustments. This comprehensive diagnostic and treatment method was co-developed by Dr. Warren C. Lee, DC, and Dr. Arlan W. Fuhr, DC, and has been in use for over 45 years, proving to be highly effective.

What is the Calgary Activator Technique?

The activator method is an alternative to the more traditional high-velocity and low amplitude (HVLA) manual adjustment. The activator method uses a tool called the Activator Adjusting Instrument to provide a gentle and quick impulse force to the misaligned vertebrae.

Complete Diagnostic and Treatment Method

The Calgary Activator Method is a complete diagnostic and treatment technique. To identify the area of spinal misalignment and subluxation, the doctor will carefully examine your spine and the specific segments to isolate the misaligned vertebrae. Once the misalignment is identified, a specific light force adjustment will be made with the Activator. The Activator impacts a small area of the spinal segment and delivers consistent impulse thrusts to the misaligned vertebrae. This allows the surrounding muscles and tissues to remain relaxed during the adjustment procedure.

Benefits of The Calgary Activator Technique

This technique can be very effective, and is a lighter force technique than a typical manual adjustment. The Activator delivers force in a few short pulses, and adjusts the vertebrae before the muscles around the spinal segment have a chance to tense and hamper the effect. There is no additional bending or torque movement in the spine during treatment, which helps in the recovery process.

Whether you choose to be adjusted by the Activator Method, Gonstead Technique, Soft Tissue Trigger Point Therapy, or an Active Release procedure, you are the boss and we will do our best to communicate the benefits and limitations of your chosen course of care.
